Our Story
North Fork Christian Academy is a private coeducational school in Hotchkiss, Colorado. A ministry of First Baptist Church, it was officially formed in 2018. However, a Christian school in our community has been the vision of Pastor Jake DeField since his arrival at the church in 2009.
We fervently pray for God’s wisdom & grace as we continue to educate many generations to come. NFCA is accountable to God to encourage our students to be all God has destined for them.
Pastor Jake DeField
Senior Pastor
Pastor Jake has served as the Pastor of Hotchkiss First Baptist with his wife Liesl since 2009. He and Liesl have been blessed of the Lord with five children. Pastor Jake loves to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and to teach the Bible to the saved.
Philosophy and Objective
NFCA believes that wisdom and knowledge come from God, that all truth is God’s truth. Therefore, the student’s education is complete only when God and His Word are at the center of all learning. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Proverbs 1:7). NFCA is concerned with the total person: his or her intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social being. NFCA believes the needs of the total person can only be met when the gospel of Jesus is received and lived by the individual student. “For in Him [Jesus] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And you are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:9-10).
Kaitlyn DeField
Lead Teacher
Kaitlyn DeField joined the team as a Teacher’s Aid in 2021. She will be continuing with us as our Lead Teacher starting in 2022. Before working with the North Fork Christian Academy, she worked two years in the Delta County and Mesa County School Districts. Kaitlyn earned her Associates Degree in General Education in 2021 and is on track to earn her bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies. Kaitlyn lives in hopes to honor and glorify God in everything that she does, including teaching. She values a Christian education and is praising the Lord for the opportunity to teach just that at the NFCA.
WHY CHOOSE
North Fork Christian Academy
Christian Education
We believe that all truth is God’s truth, all beauty is God’s beauty. In other words, God was the first mathematician, linguist, scientist, engineer, artist. He is before all and Creator of all! At NFCA we will strive to offer your child an education that is based on God as Creator of all truth & beauty, and every subject will be taught from this perspective.
Biblical Worldview
In our world today, young people are faced with a host of issues & decisions: climate change, abortion, racism, political party differences, sexual orientation & expression, nationalism, and many other moral & ethical controversies. At NFCA we commit that we will teach our students to view these controversies through the lenses of the Bible.
Challenging Academics
NFCA has selected Abeka curriculum as the curriculum of learning for our future students. This decision was made primarily on data, which suggests that students who learn through the Abeka program are often two grades above students who learn through public education. We want challenging academics for our students, because we believe you want them for your student.
Character Development
Hard work, respect for others, honesty, stick-to-ittiveness, grace: these are characters that we hope to instill within our students at NFCA. Character often makes the difference between success and failure not just in the work place, but also at home. We commit to caring for your student’s character, so that he or she stands above the rest as a leader, who is willing to do what is right even when it hurts.
